RETIREMENT

"Their father said if they could see as God can, in geological time, they would see it leap out of the ground and spread its arms and bask in the joys of being an oak tree in Iowa."

-Robinson, Home

I started this blog a year ago when I moved to Iowa to teach and study literature. It ended today when a student told me she was going to Google my name. Neither a very exciting beginning, nor end, I'm afraid. We had some good times in the middle, though, yes?

I wish you all love and peace. Thank you for reading whatever haphazard thoughts were scribbled here. For now, I feel very much at home among the oaks of Iowa, and no longer do I feel much need to be so active on the interweb. The wide world beckons! Email, call, or visit--stay in touch, dear family and friends.

Paul

"Abba Poeman said to Abba Joseph: If you really want to find rest in this life and the next, say at every turn "Who am I?" and judge no man."

END BLOG

(Post Scriptum: "In landlessness alone resides the highest truth, shoreless, indefinite as God.")

You know there's an option on here that keeps the content from appearing in google searches, right?

Yeah, this was kind of something that needed to happen anyway. I need to focus on my work this year, and because of the floods I don't have reliable internet at my house anymore, and I've been thinking about the relationship between virtue and discreteness, etc. The only reason I didn't just outright delete the page is because I still wanted to read what my friends are writing. So.
